Which Cordless Drill is Best?

About 5 years ago I threw a hundred bucks into the trash can. Really! Well, I may as well have thrown it into the trash. During my first home remodel I thought I’d save some moo-la by buying a discount drill. After just a couple months the Black & Decker drill burned up…literally. I saw sparks & smoke!

My brother-in-law Dan had always used Makita power tools. Since he owned a very successful carpentry company I figured I would put Makita at the top of my research list.

After reading reviews and talking to guys at a couple hardware stores I finally decidedto purchase a Makita 18 Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Drill. We’ll just call it the cool black & white Makita drill for short. The drill stood up to incredible abuse for several years. I recently decided to purchase a second drill, along with an impact driver (so I could drive drywall screws and wood screws easier). I purchased this incredible kit:

As you can see, my box is filthy inside and out, but this baby still runs like it’s new. One of my favorite features of this powerful drill is the compact size and comfortable grip. The “Makita-built 4-pole motor delivers 450 in.lbs. of Max Torque, with a variable 2-speed all metal transmission (0-400 / 0-1, 500 RPM) for a wide range of applications.” In other words, this small drill delivers majorly powerful drilling, has two speed settings, and a transmission  built with metal instead of plastic. And the 3-year warranty is also impressive.

There are a couple other cool features that you’ll love. The front of the drill is equipped with an LED flash light so you can see into dark holes when you’re drilling. I kind of thought it sounded like a silly gimmick, but it actually makes an incredible difference.

Also, the charger can give you a quick charge in 15 short minutes, and it even plays Beethoven music when the battery is ready! These lithium ion batteries really do last a long time.

You can check out more technical features by clicking on the below Amazon product descriptions. I promise that you won’t be disappointed with this best cordless drill. Please, please leave comments below & let me know of other tools that you love!
