Which Blender is Best?

Which Blender?

When I started attending college (12 years ago now) I quickly realized the need to be in shape for the ladies. I jumped into a workout plan and maxed out my food budget with expensive protein shakes. Thus began my quest to find the blender that gave the best bang for my buck. I think I went through 3 or 4 blenders before I arrived at my current love, the KitchenAid KSB560MC Blender.

I didn’t upgrade to this model because I wanted to, but because all my previous blenders either shattered or just stopped working (sometimes both!). My sister showed me her smoothie-making blender, but I didn’t want to spend over $300, so I went on a hunt for a great blender. I’ll be honest, I didn’t spend an incredible time looking for blenders. I guess I really lucked out. Well, it wasn’t exactly luck. I had been so impressed by my KitchenAid Artisan mixer that I figured this would also be well made.

I was a little hesitant to spend $100 ($149 retail price), but I remembered that all my cheap blenders were in some landfill. So my wife and I decided to fork out the cash since we use a blender so often.

The power of this blender is what really impressed me. It has no problem making smoothies, and even blends frozen fruit with ease. My wife and I both worked at smoothie shops as teenagers, and this blender works every bit as good as the expensive commercial blenders! And this blender’s pitcher is made of shatter-resistant polycarbonite, which has prevented it from meeting a similar fate to my other glass blenders. One of the features that I love most is the one-piece construction, which means that I don’t have to remove the blade or gaskets for the dishwasher – makes for a very easy cleanup! We’ve had this blender for a few years now, and it still works perfect!

As always, if you know of something better, please let me know!

This blender sounds good, but the best I’ve found is the Blendtec (www.blendtec.com). Go to youtube and search on “Will it blend.” They have posted some great videos that show the power of the blender.
