Since getting married I have become turned off by pizza restaurants. Why? Because my wife and her family love any kind of pizza that she can get, and that includes the cheap grease sponges that most restaurants try to pass off as the real thing, so they can increase their profit margin. I was dragged to way too many of these joints, and my stomach (and taste buds) decided that they were tired of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I still loved eating pizza in Italy and pizza that I made at home, because of the fresh ingredients. But I just can’t stomach fake cheese and low quality meat toppings.
Enter California Pizza Kitchen. When this fairly upscale restaurant came to town, I was reluctant to spend my money at it’s cash register. I felt kind of like the guy who swears off dating because he’s been burned way too many times. I have to say that I instantly fell in love with this restaurant. No more greasy pizza bases drowning in bitter red glop, topped with plastic cheese! For the first time in years I left a pizza place without heart burn.
The shnazzy modern decor and friendly service didn’t hurt either. I’m a sucker for a good atmosphere. In all the times I’ve visited CPK (as it’s affectionately referred to) I’ve never had a bad experience. From the free sourdough bread to the clean restrooms, I’ve become a CPK disciple.
I’ve even bought some California Pizza Kitchen recipe cook books on Amazon:

P.S. My very favorite pizza is the California Club pizza. Check out their menu to find your new favorite pizza.
As always, please let me know if you’re a fan of CPK, and let me know of other great places to eat!
