Attention all people who want to get in shape…I’ve finally discovered a healthy chip that tastes great! A few months ago someone brought a bag of “Athenos Baked Pita Chips” to a social event, along with some Athenos Hummus.
I looked at the bag of whole wheat chips sceptically, but I decided to give them a try since I have really enjoyed eating Athenos hummus in the past. But as soon as I tried the pita chips, I fell in love. The chips have such a great mild flavor with just a hint of salt. When eating normal chips or crackers, I usually have to pound down a bunch to feel fulfilled, but after one handful of these healthy chips I feel satisfied. Combine them with Athenos Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, and you can have an enjoyable snack without the guilt.
I just discovered that the Athenos Baked Pita Chips recently won Fitness Magazine’s “Healthy Food Award” for 2010…so I guess I’m not alone in my opinion!
I found a great recipe on the back of the Athenos bag that turned out amazing! Here you go:
BEAT cream cheese, 1 cup of the feta cheese and milk in small bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Spread into 9-inch pie plate.
TOP with layers of spinach, tomatoes, onions and olives; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup feta cheese. Cover.
REFRIGERATE several hours or until chilled. Serve with tortilla chips.
These chips are only a couple dollars, so pick up a bag next time you’re at the store, and let me know what you think by commenting below!
